PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic tape device that is capable of highly stable recording and reproduction, by installing a fixed head for recording and reproduction only to the index recording track of a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:In addition to a mobile head 7, a fixed head 13 only to the index track is installed within a case 1 of a magnetic tape device. Both the index information and the picture information are supplied to the heads 7 and 13 via an FM modulating circuit 25, a selector 26 plus recording and reproducing circuits 27 and 28 to be recorded respectively. The index information is supplied from e.g. an input device in a reproduction mode, and the head 13 reproduces the index information. The signal of reproduction is supplied to a control device 24 through the circuit 28, the selector 29 and an FM demodulating circuit 30. The signal supplied previously is compared with the reproduced signal to obtain a hard copy through a recording device 23. In such way, a stable recording and reproduction is carried out. |
