PURPOSE:To improve the charge efficiency of an alkaline storage battery at a high temperature, by making tricobalt-tetroxide to be brought into contact with an active material to form a nickel electrode. CONSTITUTION:A sintered nickel plate is impregnated in a nickel nitrate aqueous solution, and then it is dipped in a caustic potash solution, washed with water, and dried, thus a nickel electrode is obtained. Next, it is dipped in a cobalt nitrate aqueous solution, and then it is dipped in a caustic alkali aqueous solution, washed with water, and dried, then cobalt hydroxide is added. Thereafter, it is heated and about 40wt% of the cobalt hydroxide is oxidized into tricobalt-tetroxide to form a nickel positive electrode for the aklaline storage battery. Accordingly, by making the tricobalt-tetroxide to come in contact with the active material, the charge efficiency at a high temperature can be enhanced and also the utility of the active material can be improved; because the active material and the intermediate product are liable to be formed and they are stable during the charge at a high temperature. |
