Bituminous expansion joint for water-tight seals of bitumen, asphalt, etc. suitable for use in building comprises a central reinforcing bar of rubber, onto both surfaces of which are attached felts of non-woven fibres and two outer bituminous layers which cover and penetrate the felt layers to reach the core bar. Specifically, the core bar is EPDM rubber, (ethylene, propylene, diene, monomer), the felts are of polyester fibre and the outer layers are polymeric bitumen. The joint can easily be formed and includes fibre reinforcement. It is resistant to fatigue and penetration by e.g. gravel. The joint can be guaranteed water-tight for long periods.
