Test facility for tape punch - has built-in facility to check punching efficiency with output display

A paper tape punch system of the type used with a teletypewriter includes an internal test facility to ensure correctness of the punching operation. The unit has a central control unit (1) that allows data from the teletype to be transmitted (3) to the amplifiers (5) of the solenoid actuated (6) punches (6). A range of switches (9-13) allow control of the individual punches, feed of paper, indication of paper end etc. Two input switches (14,15) may be operated in combination to select one of three rates of punching. An indicator (8) blinks at the selected rate if the punching facility is operating correctly. Alternate punching of two characters is produced repeatedly.
