<p>Basket, partic. for storing or shipping foodstuffs, has the rim of its mouth sandwiched by a plastics frame and plastics ring which are pressed together and welded, pref. by ultrasonic or high-frequency welding. The side of the frame adjacent to the ring pref. has a recess in which the rim can be located and into which the ring is pressed for welding. The basket body is pref. formed by pressing flat metal mesh in a curved mould, and its base is also sandwiched by a similarly welded plastics frame and ring. The arrangement provides a strong lightweight basket.</p> |
