PURPOSE:To prepare a mildewcidal agent having synergistic mildewcidal effect and especially suitable for domestic used, by using 2-(4-thiazolyl)-benzimidazole and a long-chain alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium salt in combination as active components. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent contains as active components, (A) 2-(4- thiazolyl)-benzimidazole of formula I having growth-inhibiting activity against various mildews and (B) a long-chain alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium salt of formula II, e.g. benzalconium chloride, etc., having fungicidal and mildewcidal activities. The weight ratio of (A) to (B) is 1:9-9:1, pref. 4:1-1:4. The agent exhibits synergistic growth-inhibiting effect against mildews, and completely suppresses the growth of wide variety of mildews in domestic environment to which the separate use of each component is ineffective. It also exhibits a broad mildewcidal spectrum at a low concentration compared with the separate use of the component, and keeps the excellent mildewcidal activity for a long period. |
