PURPOSE:To use a normal erasing head for high-speed erasure by separating a recording and reproducing head slightly from a tape while bringing an erasing head into contact with the tape automatically on loading a cassette. CONSTITUTION:As rotation is started with a cassette 2 in a cassette holder 1, a plunger 22 is driven temporarily. Then, the 1st supporting base plate 17 holding a recording and reproducing head 18 moves from a stop position to a play position. Consequently, the 2nd supporting base plate 25 slides from a stop to a play position in engagement. After the sliding of the 2nd supporting base plate 25, the 1st supporting substrate 17 returns by sliding when the plunger 22 is undriven, but is stopped at a stand-by position between the play position and stop position. The erasing head 26 of the supporting base plate 25 held at the play position is in contact with a tape T, but the recording and reproducing head 18 of the supporting base plate 17 is separated slightly from the tape T. This constitution enables the erasing head used for normal recording to be set at a high-speed erasure position. |
