PURPOSE:To lower manufacturing cost and to enable long-time recording while reducing memory capacity for recording, by storing an audio signal in a semiconductor memory after code compression and by performing D/A conversion in reproduction. CONSTITUTION:An input audio signal, after passing through a sample holding circuit 2 and an A/D converter 3, is code-compressed by an encoder 11 and then stored in an RAM4. A readout signal from the RAM4 is decoded 12 and then D/A-converted 7. |
