PURPOSE:To make reading of difference kinds of slips possible during the same job and to produce an oscillation type optical character reader in commercial scale, by reading information entered a prescribed region on a slip and by recognizing magnitude of the slip on the basis of the information. CONSTITUTION:Different kinds of slips 2A, 2B are set in order on a hopper 1 and the slip 2A or 2B is sent one by one with a feed roller 3 to a scanning part. An ID number by a prescribed figure number is entered a range 4 of the ID number of this slips 2A, 2B and an edge of the slip 2A or 2B is detected at a head 7 when the slips 2A, 2B are sent, and a piece of information in the range 4 of the ID number is read, thereby magnitude of the slip 2A or 2B is recognized on the basis of the information at a recognizing part 8. Further recognized information is supplied to a controller 11, permitting the controller 11 to control a head controlling part 10, and if in the case when recognized magnitude is larger than that of the slip read previously, it moves conforming with the magnitude that the head 7 are recognized, thereby allowing reading of the slips 2A, 2B to be performed during the same job. |
