Boiler combustion air supply method - delivers into fluidised bed at selected height

The method delivers combustion air to a boiler with a fluidised bed, the air being discharged into the bed at a particular selected height. There can be an air plenum chamber (12) connected to the air inlet (15) and divided into a number of compartments (13,14), each with a number of outlets (5,6;17-19) discharging into the bed at particular heights, while a selector (16) directs the air to one or the other of the compartments. The air can be discharged into the bed via separate nozzles or perforated tubes.
