PURPOSE:The extract from flesh of shells in Pectinidae, Turbinidae and Halitotidae is fractionated and the fraction of specific molecular weight is used as an antitumore substance especially effective against solid tumors with low cytotoxicity. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution is added to the raw flesh or boiled flesh of shells in Pactinidae such as Patinopectin yessoensis, Turbinidae such as Batillus cornutus or Halitotidae such as Sulculus diversicolor aquatilis and they are homogenized. Then, they are subjected to centrifugation, ultrafiltration to collect the specific fraction of more than 10,000 molecular weight, which is used as an antitumor substance. Especially the fractions from boiled flesh of Pectinidae, from raw flesh of Turbinidae and Halitotidae with molecular weight of 10,000-30,000 or 100,000 -300,000 show high antitumor activity. Further, the fraction of more than 300,000 molecular weight from the raw flesh of Pectinidae also has high effective against tumors. This antitumor activity is thought to be caused by immunological activation. |
