PURPOSE:To prevent a matting agent from falling off even in rapid development and from sticking to the wall surface of a dissolution tank, etc. in the manufacturing process by adding particles of a specified alkali-insoluble copolymer as a matting agent to the outermost layer of a photographic sensitive material. CONSTITUTION:Particles of an alkali-insoluble binary or ternary copolymer represented by formula I (where A is a repeating unit of a monomer represented by formula II, B is a repeating unit of a monomer represented by formula III, C is a repeating unit of a monomer except monomers A, B, x is 0.5-20mol%, y is 50- 99.5 mol% and z is 0-49.5mol%) and having >=60 deg.C glass transition point and 0.2-10mum particle size are used as a matting agent. The monomer represented by the formula II includes (meth)acrylic acid and (meth)acriloylic acid, the monomer represented by the formula III includes styrenes and methacrylic esters, and they have >=50 deg.C glass transition points when homopolymerized, respectively. The matting agent is added to a sensitive material, especially to the surface protective layer. Thus, a superior matting property is pbtd. even after development.
