PURPOSE:To prevent monolithic catalyzer from vibration in the exhaust gas flow direction in such a way that cushion reaction and gas seal reaction are worked on the monolithic catalyzer by a thermal expansive member, and dimensional tolerance of the monolithic catalyzer is absorbed. CONSTITUTION:It is constituted so as to achieve its cushion reaction and gas seal reaction to monolithic catalyzer by a thermal expansive member 8 which is arranged at the end rim part on the upstream side of the monlithic catalyzer 1. Since the thermal expansive member 8 has its characteristic to be thickened in the thickness direction to the extent of approximately twice or three times, even if the length of the monolithic catalyzer has its variations as much as about 2-3mm., its dimensional tolerance can be adequately absorbed. Besides, expansion is found between an exhaust manifold 9 and the monolithic catalyzer, it offers a possibility of reliably applying gas seal between them. |
