PURPOSE:To immediately decide a transmission speed of a line, by providing a line testing device and a transmission speed storage memory in an MODEM, and constituting a line connection controller for monitoring the memory and connecting a line to a line control part, in a communication controller. CONSTITUTION:MODEMs 133-140 are provided with line testing devices 109- 116 and transmission speed storage memories 125-132 as well as modulating and demodulating circuits 117-124, and the testing devices 109-116 always execute a test of a transmission speed to lines 101-108, and its result is stored in the storage memories 125-132. A line connection control part 141 monitors the contents of this storage memory, and connects a line having a function for informing a transmission speed of information transmission start of its line to circuit control parts 150-152, and various transmission speeds, to the line control part in conformity with line processing capacity of the line control parts 150-152. |
