PURPOSE:To provide a casting assistant for ingot making which melts into a glass state and does not form slag bear by drying the granular material of kneaded matter consisting of required components contg. at least carbon through induction heating thereby forming the same into porous structure. CONSTITUTION:This relates to a casting assistant for ingot making used for production of iron and steel by a continuous casting method, wherein the granular material of the kneaded matter which contains at least a carbon component in order to increase reaction temp. and consists of required component is dried through induction heating. The moisture in the granular material is quickly heated, to evaporate and dissipate to the outside. Thereby, the granular material assumes porous structure, and when it receives high heat, the entire part is heated almost uniformly. Hence, at the point of the time when the carbon contained in the assistant burns under high temp. conditions, the assistant layer assumes a glass forming temp. almost uniformly, thus causing melting in a glass state. Thereby, the production of dust is obviated and working environment is improved. |
