PURPOSE:To print characters on printing paper in various directions by using only one kind of character generator which faces in a specific direction, and specifying character codes to be printed and information on the directions. CONSTITUTION:A clock signal CL is applied to selecting circuits 1 and 2, and a direction specifying signal S1 is applied to the selecting circuits 1 and 2, and an exclusive OR gate 3. A direction specifying signal S2 is applied to the exclusive OR gate 3 and an inverting circuit 7, and the output of the gate 3 is applied to an inverting circuit 6. Outputs of the selecting circuit 1 and 2 are supplied to the inverting circuits 6 and 7 through octal counters 4 and 5. The output of the inverting circuit 6 and a character code signal CD are used to control a character generator, and thus characters are specified, thereby selecting bits by its output and the output of the inverting circuit 7 brought a bit selecting circuit. Four combinations of levels 1 and 0 of the signals S<1> and S2 are specified to specify which of four directions characters are to be printed in. Thus, directions of characters are selected freely without increasing character patterns. |
