PURPOSE:To perform a testing of characteristic of a magnetic head covering from an inner track to an outer track without the movement of the magnetic head, by a method wherein the number of revolutions of a magnetic disc is caused to change. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic disc 4 is driven by a variable frequency power source 6 connected to a motor 5, and the number of revolutions of the magnetic disc 4 is caused to change optically. Through the working of a switching control part 7, an information-writing signal generator 8 and a tester 9 are switched for connection to perform an inspection. Through the changing of the number of revolutions of the magnetic disc through the working of this constitution, the peripheral velocity of the inside of the magnetic disc and the peripheral velocity of the outside thereof are similarly obtained by the use of the same track part in the same radius position, and an inspection can be performed by means of an individual floating amount from the magnetic surface of a head. This eliminates the need for the movement of the head, and permits shortening of a test time. A testing is performed by the same track part, and this prevents the occurrence of a measurement error due to the unevenness of a magnetic characteristic of a medium. |
