PURPOSE:To adjust the viscosity of ink automatically and accurately by a method wherein the movement of a buoy moving according to the difference of specific gravity with a viscosity measured liquid is detected optically, and a solenoid valve is controlled by the detecting signals in the liquid of an ink jet printer. CONSTITUTION:A viscosity detector 110 is mounted previously into the second ink tank 101. In a word, the movement of the doughnut-shaped buoy 113 inserted to a stem 111 according to the difference of specific gravity with the liquid is detected by means of a light-emitting diode 114 and a phototransistor 115. When the viscosity of ink increases and the specific gravity becomes larger than the specific gravity of the buoy, the buoy 113 rises, and detecting signals are emitted from the phototransistor 115, and inputted to a drive circuit 132 through an amplifier 131. A solenoid valve 130 is changed over and controlled on the basis of the input, a gutter 126 and a unit 120 are interrupted and a dilute liquid reservoir 128 and the unit 120 are connected. Dilution action continues until the buoy 113 lowers. |
