The book end comprises two arms set at right angles to each other wherein one arm (3), the base plate, has two side edges (4a,4b) of different length and one leading edge (5) which runs inclined thereto. When the inclined leading edge (5) is pushed along beneath the line of books it begins to cut in beneath the books at an acute angle so that the initial contact between the leading edge and the book is only at one point of contact. This subsequently causes the book to rise allowing the base plate to be pushed beneath the book without damaging the lower edge of same. |
