PURPOSE:To simply and cheaply install a roll shifter, and to improve the facility of maintenance, by connecting one output terminal of the roll shifter to an intermediate roll, and by connecting another reaction terminal of a driver to a work roll. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 18 is employed as a roll shifting device; the lower part of an driving side upper backup roll chock 11 is extended downward so as to form a leg for guiding a driving side upper intermediate roll chock 13 vertically and in the direction of roll axis; the cylinder 18 is installed within the body of this leg. One output terminal of the cylinder 18 is tranamitted to the driving side upper intermediate roll chock 13 through a slider 17 and a hook 19; hereby, the intermediate roll 6 is axially shifted. Another reaction terminal of the cylinder 18 is born by a mill housing 3 through the driving side upper backup roll chock 11, and through a backup roll chock clamper possible to vertically move against the driving side housing 3 and restrained so as to be impossible to move axially. By the present constitution, the driver such as the cylinder 18 is internally held in the backup roll chock, so that the installation space on the driving side is broadened and the construction is simplified. |
