PURPOSE:To reduce the dissipation of a material for a sacrificial electrode during use in rapidly flowing environment and to provide a long life by adding an electrically nonconductive substance having a complex shape to the material. CONSTITUTION:An electrically nonconductive substance having a complex shape such as a fabric of a ceramic heat insulator is set in a metallic mold, and a material for a sacrificial electrode such as molten Zn having 99.8% purity is poured to make an ingot. To well fit the Zn to the fabric the ingot is cold rolled, and a plate of desired size is cut out of the rolled material is the plane direction of the fabric to maufacture a sacrificial electrode. The electrode is fixed in a groove cut in the casing of an oblique axial-flow pump for seawater, and it is worked. Thus, mild steel around the electrode is not corroded unlike the case of a sacrificial Zn electrode worked in a similar way. |
