PURPOSE:To prevent a slip between a roll and an abrasive belt from occurring, by distributing an adhering part of a friction material dispersedly over the whole backside of a belt base material in an almost uniform manner. CONSTITUTION:Such a friction material 5 that is larger in frictional resistance than a belt base material 2 and excellent in adhesion to the belt base material 2 is partially stuck to the backside of the abrasive belt base material 2 having an abrasive 5 stuck to the surface. In consequence, at the backside of the belt base material 2, an adhering part of the friction material 5 comes into a state of being dispersed in an exposed part of the belt base material 2, so that this adhering part shows powerful frictional resistance to a roll, thus a slip between this roll and an abrasive belt 1 is prevented from occurring. In addition, at a part where the friction material 5 is not coated, the belt base material 2 keeps up its inherent flexibility, and since a soft part and a hardened part are alternately dispersed there, in the belt base material 2 as a whole, it keeps its flexibility capable of sufficiently following up such motion that circulatively shifts around the roll.
