A drawing-in and drawing-out device for drag cables of drag lifts is provided with a restoring spring for the drag cable drum, on which the drag cable is wound up, and with a centrifugal brake for the drag lift drum, having at least one centrifugal weight. The distance between the axis of rotation of the centrifugal weight and the region of application of the centrifugal weight on a housing inner wall, preferably provided with a brake lining, of the drawing-in and drawing-out device is automatically variable, in dependence on the sense of rotation of the drag cable drum, in such a way that the point of application of the centrifugal weight is closer to the axis of rotation of the centrifugal weight during drawing-out of the drag cable than during drawing-in of the drag cable. In order to achieve an adequate difference in the braking action during drawing-out of the drag cable in comparison with drawing-in, without adversely affecting the stable mounting of the centrifugal weight, the centrifugal weight has in its region remote from the axis at least one brake shoe, mounted such that it can swivel between two stops about an axis parallel to the axis of rotation of the centrifugal weight, and in its region near to the axis a preferably cam-like projecting brake surface. <IMAGE>
