In a narrow fabric loom with a weft inserter and a knitting needle for forming a knitted selvedge, a movable weft loop engaging finger, pref. with a cranked free end, operates in synchronism with the needle to engage some or all of the inserted weft loops for producing decorative picot loops projecting outwardly from the knitted edge. Specifically the finger is on a lever pivoted in a plane parallel to the needle reciprocation plane by a rock shaft itself oscillated by an operating lever coupled by a flexible connector to a vertically slidable frame, movements of which are controlled by a pattern mechanism. Knitted decorative selvedge has loops more stable than loops previously formed by edge wires at unknitted selvedges.
|
