<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate the titled meandering motion with a good responsiveness with a simple, small-sized apparatus, by turning a couple of upper and lower work rolls in the same direction in a plane parallel to the surface of a rolled sheet, while keeping an almost constant crossing angle of upper and lower work rolls during the rolling work. CONSTITUTION:At a stage before starting a rolling work, the axis 10 of an upper work roll is aligned to the axis 15 of an upper backup roll on a vertical plane, and the axis 11 of a lower work roll is aligned to the axis 16 of a lower backup roll on another vertical plane; each pair of work roll and backup roll is opposedly turned by theta/2 in a plane parallel to the surface S of a rolled sheet so as to set a crossing angle theta; after these preparations are finished, the rolling work is started. During the rolling work, if the rolled sheet causes a meandering motion because of a certain cause, only the couple of upper and lower work rolls are turned in the same direction by an angle alpha in a plane parallel to the surface S of the rolled sheet while keeping the initially set crossing angle theta as it is between the upper and lower work rolls; hereby, the meandering motion of the rolled sheet is eliminated.</p> |
