PURPOSE:To detect a pattern to be extracted with high precision in a high speed, by providing a check area in the pattern converted to a binary coded signal and by counting the number of times of inclusion and coincidence between the pattern in this area and a standard pattern. CONSTITUTION:An image pickup camera 10 is scanned on the pattern surface, and an obtained video signal is supplied to a video signal is supplied to a video signal modifying circuit 4 and is converted to a binary signal. A video signal storing circuit 9 samples and stores this binary signal. When a signal to indicate a check area is transmitted from a timing control circuit 7 to the circuit 9, a register signal in the check area is transmitted to a pattern coincidence detecting circuit 12. In the circuit 12, inclusion and coincidence between the signal transmitted from the circuit 9 and a predetermined standard pattern are discriminated. As the result, in case of inclusion or coincidence, a signal ''1'' is transmitted to a matching counting circuit 5. The circuit 5 counts this signal ''1'', and a pattern to be extracted is discriminated by this count value and is transmitted to an external control device 6 together with the position of the check area. |
