PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of magnetic reproduction of a head by preventing the leakage of a magnetic flux penetrating a magnetic resistance effect thin film, by providing a nonconductive magnetic shield to a terminal part at the opposite side to the counter surface of the magnetic medium of the magnetic resistance effect thin film. CONSTITUTION:To both sides of the magnetic resistance effect thin film 5 of a magnetic resistance effect type head, insulating layers 10 and 11 are adhered within the same ranges, and on them, a magnetic shielding layer 12 is provided to cover a surface, opposing to the magnetic medium 1, with the magnetic shielding layer 12. Consequently, almost all of a signal magnetic flux entering from the part A of the magnetic resistance effect thin film 5 reaches the part B and then flows to magnetic shielding layers 3 and 12. Therefore, the magnetic flux leaking to the magnetic shielding layers 3 and 12 is reduced greatly. |
