The automatic door lock includes sliding rods carrying tabs which releasably engage into the door jamb. The rods are moved by a linkage actuated by a handle via a lever. One part of the lever is pivoted to the linkage about an axis and another is pivoted to an arm about a parallel axis. When the door is opened, the arm is held against a compressed spring by a latch allowing the lever to pivot about the axis and the rods to slide, disengaging the tabs from the door jamb.
