PURPOSE:To perform the maintenance service of the moving function, the write function, and the read function of a write and read head easily and accurately, by providing a function which diagnoses and inspects fundamental operations by the manual operation. CONSTITUTION:In case of diagnosis for the write operation, it is confirmed first that the medium where data is to be written is not a write protection medium. A write gate 13 is made active for the purpose of inspecting the operation of the write protection detecting function of a drive to be checked. INDEX detection is used for the timing of turning-on/off of the gate 13. Contents of write data are an optional or specific data pattern. Next, in case of diagnosis for the read operation, a read gate 17 is turned on by the INDEX detection pulse. Then, confirm that read data coincides with write data. |
