A device for the full annealing of nonferrous material, such as copper or aluminium, in strip form is incorporated in such a way in a continuous drawing or rolling process that, following this process, the material is guided in such a way by means of two rotatable pulleys arranged a distance apart that the material undergoes heating to the temperature required for the full annealing of the strip of material due to the flux induced by an induction coil arranged between the two pulleys. In this arrangement, one of the two pulleys is provided with a pulley rim formed by two circumferential grooves and composed of an electrically conductive material in order in this way to achieve an electrical short-circuit between the strip of material fed to one circumferential groove and taken off via the other circumferential groove. The secondary winding decisive for the operation of the induction coil is thus provided by the strip of material itself, while its primary winding is connected to a variable mains supply. The two pulleys are furthermore incorporated in a system for the quenching of the fully annealed strip of material, this system comprising a quenching chamber and a replenishment tank, each containing a certain quantity of a fluid used for the quenching process, the two quantities being held at the same level. <IMAGE>
