The cable consists of two lines (2,3). Each line consists of four copper wires (4,5) and three bundles of fibres (6). The wires and the bundles have the same cross-section. The fibres are synthetic and twisted to either within their bundle. The fibres have a specified strength and provide tension relief for the copper wires. The bundles and wires are embedded in an outer sheath (7,8). The cable is lighter than a conventional cable comprising all-metal wires and tension-relief cords. Various arrangements are described.
