The thermally insulating partition for use as a wall, blind or solar collector comprises strips (4) extending between two vertical, parallel panels (P1,P2) which are downwardly directed from the warmer panel (P2) to the cooler panel (P1). The strips are spaced so that the lines (5) perpendicular to the warmer panel (P2) from the point at which each strip (4) extends partially overlaps or at least meets the point at which an adjacent strip contacts the cooler panel (P1). The strips (4) are downwardly inclined at 35 - 70 degrees and pref. 45 - 60 degrees to the perpendicular line (5) extending from the warmer panel (P2).
