A continuous wave RAMAN oscillator utilizing an optical laser pump of low power including an output mirror, a solid core optical glass fiber waveguide, and a Fabry-Perot resonator including the waveguide, having a virtually totally reflective mirror coupled to one end of the waveguide. The output mirror of the pump is coupled to the other end of the waveguide as the input mirror thereof. wavelength selective means comprising an output reflector is coupled to the resonator for passing at least RAMAN oscillation frequency signals out of the resonator.
