PURPOSE:The titled fiber, prepared by applying a copolymer derivative of ethylene oxide with propylene oxide or a surfactant containing the same thereto, having improved dispersibility in water, and capable of being formed into a sheet at a high speed and giving a synthetic paer having a good formation and high paper strength. CONSTITUTION:An undrawn tow of polyester fibers, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, are drawn, heat-treated, and immersed in an aqueous solution of a copolymer derivative of ethylene oxide with propylene oxide or an aqueous solution containing a surfactant containing the same and squeezed. Thus, the aimed fibers to which the copolymer derivative is applied are obtained. The copolymer derivative is a compound prepared by terminating one or both ends of an ethylene oxide-propylene oxide copolymer with a phenolic compound, an aliphatic alcohol or fatty acid, and the amounts applied are preferably 0.1-2wt% based on the fiber weight respectively. |
