A sliding ring seal for a shaft etc. has the sliding ring pressed axially by a spring on to the stationary counter-ring; the fluid to be sealed also forces this ring in the same direction. A PTFE bellows auxiliary seal seals the sliding ring to the shaft with which it revolves and permits the axial relative movement between them. The bellows seal is composed of a V-section ring and a wedge-section ring forced one against the other between a clamping ring and compression ring to form a static seal.The bellows may continue in a swan-necked zone to terminate in a double-lip zone. The sealing arrangement provides static sealing and is capable of withstanding high temperatures, pressures and corrosions conditions.
