The battery which is depolarised by the circulation of air comprises a rectangular casing (1) with two connection wires (3,4) attached to the top surface (2) of the casing. Each wire has an insulating covering, and a terminal (5,6) attached to the free end. Grooves (7,9) are provided along the top of the battery to retain the connecting wires in transit, and when not in use. Each groove ends in a suitable shaped recess (8,10) to receive the the corresponding terminal. In the base of each groove there is a series of small holes which allow air to circulate through the battery, depolarising the electrodes. When the insulated connecting wire is fitted into the grooves the holes are automatically blocked, preventing the unnecessary circulation of air, which can cause corrosion over long periods of storage.
|
