The device for compensating for undesirable changes in length on spindle drives can be used in all equipment and machines in which a spindle imparts an exactly defined movement to a sub-assembly under different temperatures. With minimum cost, the intention is to achieve precise elimination of the temperature effect over the entire spindle length in proportion to the distance of a nut from the fixed bearing of the spindle. To this end, a lever is pivotably arranged on the fixed bearing. The lever is orientated parallel to the spindle in the zero position. The nut is connected to the lever in an articulated manner via a driver. The lever is pivoted in accordance with the temperature effect by a plunger which is displaced in a passage of an expansion chamber.
