The automatic direction finder (goniometer) is for locating emergency signal transmitter, partic. in marine operation. It consists of an automatic alarm signal receiver, additional switchgear, and a directional aerial in such arrangement that an alarm signal carries out automatically a goniometric function which is then stored. Pref., a cross-frame aerial, used for ship-mounted goniometers, can be used also for this automatic alarm signal goniometer. This direction finder is designed as a double channel goniometer according to the Watson-Watt principle, with an additional aerial for lateral determination and with a Braun tube as an indicator. A single channel receiver and a change-over device may be used. The voltages of the two aerial frames and of the auxiliary aerial are supplied in a rapid sequence to a memory, which then controls an XY-oscillograph. Thus an indication ellipse appears on the Braun tube as with a double channel goniometer.
|
