<p>Reflective studs are made from a transparent or translucent moulding material, pref. are moulded from amorphous polyester resin, polycarbonate or an aromatic polyamide. Used for marking lane limits on roadways, airfield runways, etc. to increase visibility by day or night. They are suitable for loads up to at least 3 tonnes, and are cheaper and lighter than composite metal/rubber/ceramic studs.S Specifically claimed studs are made in the form of a convex dish stiffened by a combination of annular and radial ribs, which may be adhesive-bonded to e.g. an asphalt surface. The moulding profile may incorporate lenticular or prismatic patches shaped to provide external and/or internal reflection: part of the surface of the moulding may be pigmented or metallised to modify the appearance of the stud. The crown of the moulding may feature anti-skid pimples.</p> |
