The linkage opens and shuts the trap door of a vehicle mounted hopper. The trap door has one or more panels (3) opening downwards. There is a weight (4,6) to shut the door with a force greater than its weight and the load weight. With each panel is a folding stop (11) and there is a connection (13) between these stops. Another linkage (14,15) can move the stops into one of two positions. Each panel has a bolt (16) locking it in the open position when there is material in the hopper. The bolts are automatically locked and manually unlocked.
