The compound glazing consists of glass 5 which is connected to a ribbed plate 1 constituted by two cover plates 2, 3 placed at a mutual distance apart with the aid of ribs 4. The ribbed plate 1 is made of plastic. The plastic can be rigid and can consist of transparent material. The connection between the glass 5 and the ribbed plate 1 can be realized over the whole of the plate, through the use of adhesive spots or adhesive stripes. The marginal regions can be sealed. In the connection between the glass 5 and the ribbed plate, the insulating property is enhanced and fracture-proofness and splinter-proofness are obtained with the connection. <IMAGE>
