PURPOSE:To obtain the chopper controlling device for a DC motor which is contrived to increase a regeneration rate, a regenerated electric power and a regenerating brake power by a method wherein a commutation rate of a by-pass thyristor is controlled in order that a motor current reaches the prescribed value concerned with a motor allowable maximum voltage. CONSTITUTION:Individual output signals from a current detector 30, a voltage detector 32 and a current instruction apparatus 34 are made input to a commutation rate control circuit 28. The commutation rate control circuit 28 controls the commutation rates of the chopper 14 and the by-pass thyristor 26, that is, keeps the commutation rate of the chopper 14 minimum until the commutation rate of the by- pass thyristor 26 reaches the maximum value, controls the commutation rate of the by-pass thyristor 26 so that the motor current may reach the prescribed value and operates to control the commutation rate of the chopper 14 in case where the commutation rate of the by-pass thyristor 26 is maximum. |
