PURPOSE:To increase the reaction efficiency of a positive electrode by specifying material for a positive electrode ring to be provided on the upper periphery of a molded positive compound of a flat button type battery. CONSTITUTION:A positive compound comprising a mixture of an active material such as silver oxide, mercury oxide, or manganese dioxide and a conductive material is pressed and filled in a positive container 2 with a positive electrode ring 15 to form a flat button type battery. The positive electrode ring 15 provided on the upper periphery of the positive electrode 4 of the battery is constituted with an alkali soluble metal. For example, a single element of aluminum, magnesium, zinc, or tin, or those related alloy is preferably selected. The positive electrode ring 15 serves during press-molding of the positive electrode and during contact-sealing for supporting the gasket, and becomes needless after the fabrication of the battery. Thus after fabrication, the ring 15 dissolves and disapears in the alkaline electrolyte, the part of the positive electrode just alkaline electrolyte, the part of the positive electrode just under the positive ring 15 can contribute to the battery reaction, and the reaction efficiency can be improved. |
