Process for the preparation of cholesterol derivatives

New organic dibasic acid half esters of 7-ketocholesterol and of 7-hydroxycholesterol represented by the general formula <IMAGE> (wherein R1 is =O or -OH and R2 is a C1-C5 alkylene group or a phenylene group) and physiologically acceptable salts thereof. These compounds are effective as an immunosuppressive or an anti-inflammatory agent.
