PURPOSE:To make optimum printing-out possible in different seasons, by dividing the negative screen to measure lights and by preparing and selecting plural operation expressions when these measure values are operated to determine an optimum quantity of exposure light. CONSTITUTION:Densities of respective parts of the negative screen are measured, and the negative is classified by patterns on a basis of characteristic values of them. For example, if the upper part of the screen has a density higher than that of the lower part, this negative is classified as a backlighted shot negative. However, since the contrast is different between snow and the sea in the background, it is desirable that the calculation expression for the quantity of exposure light is changed even for the same backlighted shot negatives. Therefore, operation systems A and B are prepared, and the former is selected and used in the winter, and the latter is selected and used in the seasons other than the winter. |
