PURPOSE:To control the deflection of work rolls freely over a wide range, by arranging an intermediate roll in diameter smaller than that of work rolls between a work roll and a backup roll both being driven to rotate at different velocities, and by attaching a vertical bending device to each of said work roll and intermediate roll. CONSTITUTION:A small diameter intermediate roll 5, in diameter smaller than that of upper work roll 1 and in length almost equal to that of upper work roll 1, is arranged between upper work roll 1 and upper backup roll 3. Two work roll chocks 6, 7 are arranged respectively on the inner side and on the outer side in the jouranl of each of upper and lower work rolls 1, 2 so as to support the journal through bearings 8, 9 respectively; the journal of the intermediate roll 5 is supported by a chock 10 through a bearing 11. Each of roll chocks 6, 7, 10 is equipped with a hydraulic loading device, whose load is adjusted by a pressure controller; hereby, the roll bending moment is adjusted in order to obtain a large controllability for the sheet crown. |
