A drainage tube for keeping open an aperture between the nasal cavity and the sinus after an operation consists of a bell-shaped, disc-shaped or umbrella-shaped elastic component, together with a plate parallel to this, the two being connected by a tube of round, oval or similar cross-section to act as the drainage duct. The length and dia. of this tube are such that the bell-shaped or similar cap can be folded inwards and tucked into the tube. Pref. materials are silicone rubber or polyurethane or any other material which is compatible with the human body and possesses the necessary elasticity.
