N-Azolyl-1-ethyl-N-halogenoacetanilides of the formula I <IMAGE> in which A denotes an azole ring bonded via a nitrogen atom and optionally substituted by C1-C4-alkyl, cyano or halogen, X denotes chlorine or bromine and at least one of the substituents R1, R2 and R3, denotes C1-C4-alkoxy, halogen or halogenomethyl and the others also denote hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl, and their acid addition salts have herbicidal and plant growth-inhibiting properties. They are suitable for use as selective herbicides in cultivated crops. |
