PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video interphone system that can confirm presence of connection of camera attached entrance slave units without the need for provision of a connection detection circuit for each of the camera attached entrance slave units. SOLUTION: This invention provides the video interphone system where a loudspeaker 31 of a video interphone master unit 3, to which a plurality of camera attached entrance slave units are connectable, sounds calls from camera attached entrance slave units 1, 2, a display device 33 of the video interphone master unit 3 displays a video image of a visitor, and a speech section 34 of the video interphone master unit 3 makes a speech with the visitor of the entrance slave unit. The video interphone master unit 3 is provided with a signal processing circuit 32 that detects the presence of connection of a plurality of the camera attached entrance slave units and a master unit CPU 30 that connects with a camera attached entrance slave unit whose connection is detected with a detection signal from the signal processing circuit in response to the input of a monitor button 40 to control the monitor operation by a display device and the loudspeaker.
