<p>Biomass utilisation by bacterial conversion to CH4- contg. combustible gases comprises the introduction of aq. biomass suspensions into qas-tight natural or artificial subterranean caverns in which the temp. is such as to create optimum condition for CH4 formation. If cavern temp. deviates from the optimum temp., e.g. 30-35 deg.C, the temp. can be adjusted, e.g. externally, with heat-exchangers. The biomass can be human-, industrial-, agricultural- or fermentation process waste, esp. clarified sludge from biological waste water purification plant.</p> |
